Sony returns with another record-breaking device they have named Xperia 1II. It is the after comer of Xperia 1 flagship phone that was released sometime last year.
This new unique smartphone comes with precise and consistent qualities that makes it unique and one of its kind. It comes as an amazing device that is targeted at wowing photographers who wish to operate professionally.
In contrast to Xperia 1, Sony Xperia 1II has as its hardware upgraded so that it can come to terms with the expectations that 2020 brings. The use of Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 SoC is obviously seen making this model level up just as other groundbreaking 2020 designs.
Sony has increased the RAM as well as the storage configurations giving RAM up to 8GB and the latter 256GB without room for options. I believe this is a good move.
It also comes with a spiced up battery capacity, upgrading from a 3330mAh to a 4000mAh. These alterations do not really alter the look of the phone because the increase only added a few grams to its load. Sony has also wowed its audience by reducing the thickness compared to Xperia 1. The expected sony xperia 1 price will be around 73,990
The breadth of the phone did not change which makes it nicely usable. A wireless charging that doesn’t involve impact has also been added to the features. It is definitely cool because the previous version did not have that ability.
Return of the headphone jack
Sony Xperia 1II has interestingly changed its headphone jacks to 3.5mm. This came after Sony received criticism from the users of Sony Xperia 1 because of the removal of the headphone jack. Sony has not only repented from the removal of the headphone jack in the previous model but has also gone ahead to improve on it, stating that it has added a 360 Reality Audio Processing Engine.
The return of the headphone jack is a resort because users have truly condemned its removal in the first place. So thumbs up to Sony for returning them.
Its design hasn’t really changed when compared to its previous version. It came in its usual square sides. Regrettably, the resolution panel did not change from 4K. So if you want it for a long time viewing experience, there has been no change.
Although Sony has added a new spec to the design, a Motion Blur Reduction. Which it says is equivalent to a 90HZ display.
Finger print scanner
This feature has also been returning which definitely gives it a better look and a better feel when used. It is always easier to just place your print on the scanner and have access to your device rather than being oblige to use patterns or other locks.
This model is also an IP68 water-resistant which makes you less jumpy when your device comes in contact with water. This is another feature that makes this smartphone a good one.
Let us talk about its most bragged about feature (Camera)
This phone comes with a 6.5-inch 4k OLED display. A smartphone camera that captures images like this model has never been seen. It was built as the latest Alpha 9 series for ultimate autofocus. It is designe to amuse photographers who operate professionally. There are 3 cameras at the back alongside a flight-time sensor. The camera is amazingly wide with a focal length of f/2.2 aperture along with a 12MP sensor. The phone changes to 70mm f/24 for zoomed-in shots. Optical images are stabilize by the other two cameras.
This smartphone camera has been designe to shoot up to 20fbps burst along as with complete autofocus and auto exposure. It can calculate without disruption 60 times a second. So even in quick-moving scenes, you can get the best shot.
The Xperia 1 II mostly upgraded its camera hardware. Kickstarting with the main unit, Sony Xperia 1II has upgraded its sensor from a 1/2.6” unit to a much larger 1/1.7” sensor, this produces an increase in the pitch of the pixel from 1.4µm to 1.8µm, resulting in a 65% increase in its ability to capture light. The resolution has not changed. It has remained at 12MP. Although this is nothing to be concerned about because what matters is the effective spatial resolution the sensor and optics can capture. The optics is now a little bit wider at 24mm equivalent instead of 26mm equivalent on the Xperia 1, and the aperture is now at f/1.7 and OIS is maintaine on the sensor.
Just like Xperia 1, this model comes with Eye AF, and it works on both human and animal eyes this time. Sony has added a lot of emphasis on the abilities of the new camera, like the autofocus capabilities. The sensor has a dual pixel unit that covers 70% of the sensor.
The telephoto module looks like it hasn’t change the sensor, which remains at 12MP with 1.0µm pixels, but the optics have change and are now at 70mm equivalent, or 3x optical zoom compare to the main camera, a longer focal length than the 52 / 2x zoom equivalent on the Xperia 1. OIS is also integrating in the f/2.2 optics.
ultimately, the ultra-wide-angle module remains the same in its field-of-view but notices a massive upgrade in the sensor as it’s upgrade from a 1/3.4” sensor to a 1/2.6” unit, which means that pixel pitches have increase from 1µm to 1.4µm, all while retaining the 12MP resolution. The sensor is also PD-PDAF which is quite eye-catching, we haven’t had confirmation yet if this means the module now has variable focus.

Sony has revealed that they have partnered with Zeiss to bring about the optics of the new model. The Xperia 1 optics was without a doubt one of the best with its optical sharpness.
